History

In 1967, with the help of local man Jack Gurteen, a group of Pine Rivers State High School students, who enjoyed kicking a ball around at lunch, organised a game against Redcliffe City U14 team at Redcliffe. Pine RIvers won 5-3 and a club was born. The current clubhouse was built in 1978.

Pine Rivers Athletic Football Club is a 'not for profit' club, run by members, providing the local community opportunities: to participate in a healthy lifestyle; to develop sporting skills and social networks; and to compete and excel athletically all within a safe, supportive and respectful environment.

2017 Retrospect

Wendy Allison Park celebrated 50 years of football with 5 teams competing in the Grand Finals.  A total of 42 teams called the park 'home' including 10 competitive junior and 8 competitive senior divisions, half of which were Women's Division.  In fact, 7 of the 18 competitive teams made the final series which illustrates well the commitment of the coaches and team managers, and the dedication of players to their sport and their teammates.

50 years was an important milestone for the local football community and acknowledgement was given to the efforts, contribution and achievements of founding and past members, sponsors, supporters and players, including the current Australian Socceroo, Robbie Kruse.

With age comes challenges including the club's infrastructure. Good news was received with confirmation of financial investment in the facility by both Moreton Bay Regional Council (MBRC) and the State Government for an electrical and lighting upgrade at Wendy Allison Park in 2018.  MBRC expects the electrical upgrade to the facility will be complete in January 2018 and the new light poles on the main field to be installed at the end of the 2018 football season.  New control gear was installed on the aged infrastructure to ensure night games will recommence at the start of the 2018 season.

2018 Looking ahead
